Overall team / department purpose

- The Business Improvement function uses a range of project and process improvement tools and techniques to enable business improvement projects and other activities to enhance performance improvement and process efficiencies for our business.

- The aim of this function is to ensure that appropriate processes and procedures are continually in place to enable delivery of the overall strategically aligned change road map.

Key role priorities

- This role is responsible for the successful delivery of projects across our business.

- This involves managing projects through all phases of the project lifecycle, leading project teams and working closely with stakeholders at all levels. The holder ensures that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and that each project’s goals are met to specifications, on time and within budget.

Key working relationships

- This role involves working with a range of stakeholders across all levels and functions of our business in a project management capacity and liaising with external stakeholders/consultants where required.

Main duties & responsibilities

- Lead the planning and implementation of projects across our business.

- Define each project’s scope and goals to ensure that these meet business needs and are established to ensure successful project delivery.

- Plan and schedule project timelines that maximise the use of available resources and enable benefit realisation to be optimised and achieved at the earliest opportunity.

- Coordinate project team to deliver key project milestones and actions to time, cost and quality.

- Plan and secure resource to ensure successful project delivery.

- Ensure quality assurance measures are in place to actively monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of work performed within each project.

- Carry out risk assessments to ensure all risks and issues that could impact the project are identified and effectively managed.

- Manage project administration, ensuring accurate and timely records are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

- Ensure budgetary objectives are met and the project budget is managed effectively.

- Report regularly to senior management and project decision making groups and boards.

- Track project performance ensuring successful delivery to time, cost and quality.

- Complete project evaluations, measuring results and capturing lessons learned to enable improvement in delivery of future projects.

- Complete any other tasks as commensurate with the level and nature of the post as delegated by the role’s line manager.

Key measures of success

- Projects are implemented to time and cost and measures and controls are developed to ensure that change is embedded operationally.

- Relationships with key stakeholders are developed and maintained to ensure the smooth delivery of projects.

- Accurate and timely data and information is provided in relation to projects.

- Accurate and timely performance monitoring data and information is provided highlighting current position and future opportunities.

- Qualitative and quantitative outcomes for projects and change activities are reviewed and captured.

- Completion of projects leads to realisation of business benefits.
